Many events aroud Pisa, The leaning tower, Versilia area and Arno Valley to know the most important researches and applications into the fields that are already changing (for the better) our life. Advances on the program between science, culture and art.
Pisa becomes “RoboTown”, City of robots, due to the second edition of the International Robotics Festival, hosted also this year edition, from 27th September to 3rd October 2018, in the Tuscan city that boasts one of the highest concentrations in the world of workers and of activities for the research, development, application of robotic systems towards ever wider sectors, which nowadays involve (and improve) every aspect of our daily life. After the debut of 2017, characterized by a record success with over 10 thousand attendances, the network of the Public Institutions of Pisa confirms the significance and relevance of the Festival as a key element for planning further territorial development. to increase its notoriety worldwide and, above all, to demonstrate how robotics, in all its forms, is a technology that is friendly to humans. The robotic systems, in fact, are at the service of man to help him and to facilitate him, never to replace him, unless he is to perform heavy and dangerous tasks.
In these days, Protocol of Understanding is renewed, it involves engaging in the organization and support of the second International Robotics Festival: Tuscany Region, Municipality of Pisa, Province of Pisa, University of Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, National Research Council Institute of Pisa, BioRobotics Institute of Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Research Center “E.Piaggio” of the University of Pisa, Center of Excellence EndoCas of the University of Pisa, Irccs Stella Maris Foundation, Chamber of Commerce of Pisa, University Hospital of Pisa, Arpa Foundation. Confirmed the direction of the Festival of Franco Mosca, president of the Arpa Foundation and Professor Emeritus of General Surgery at the University of Pisa. The program is taking shape and already includes many events of a scientific, educational, musical and cultural aim, to respond to the needs of a wide and varied audience, just as the presence of robotics – understood in the broadest sense of the word – is wide. daily life. Events are planned on the contribution of robotics in health care, in humanitarian cooperation, in pleasure boating, also to allow people with different disabilities to face a safe sea voyage, in sport, in industry and in the labor market. The reflection will focus on the ethical, social, economic implications linked to the increasingly massive diffusion of robotics, without neglecting aspects that involve the “green economy”, the recovery and conservation of cultural heritage, medicine, also exploring the role of professions such as that of the nurse in the management of new technologies.
Regarding educational robotics, International Robotics Festival will be present in the context of the Internet Festival (from 11th to 14th October 2018 in Pisa), with educational robotics workshops designed for T-TOUR schools, for a common commitment in favor of teaching that facilitates and optimizes the involvement of students, teachers and all those who want to deepen their knowledge in this field or confront themselves for the first time with the scenarios of the future.
Particular attention is to educational robotics, which allows the Festival to start a collaboration with Internet Festival, scheduled from 11th to 14th October 2018, also in Pisa. Within Internet Festival, educational robotics laboratories will be proposed, designed for school students, from elementary to high school. Thanks to this partnership, Internet Festival and International Robotics Festival offer workshops that see the new generations as protagonists, to facilitate the involvement of students, teachers and all those who want to get in touch with robotics or deepen their knowledge of the technologies that are redesigning the future of education and teaching. About collaborations, mark the date: BRIGHT 2018, Researchers’ Night, during this night in Pisa there will be widespread scientific dissemination events, with particular attention to robotics.
Second edition of the Festival also presents a cultural program with concerts, shows and specials for cinema, proposing the new “Pisa Robot Film Festival”, a review to find out how strong is the link between the world of celluloid and that of robotics.
