Project Description

September 28th, 9.00

Sala degli Stemmi, Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa

In recent years, the integration of robotic technologies and archaeological research has given highly innovative and promising results. The novelties of this fruitful synergy will be presented to the public during a Workshop hosted within the International Robotics Festival. The programme, rich in interventions, will host groups of study among the most representative in the field, with the aim of illustrating the new frontiers of archeology.

The presentations will include the research on advanced technologies and robots for mapping, documentation and excavation of submarine and coastal archaeological sites, new applications and perspectives on the use of drones in archeology, virtual technologies and three-dimensional reconstructions applied to the study of mummified human remains, a new system for the automatic recognition of archaeological pottery, and virtual archeology and cyber-archeology technologies for monitoring and reconstructing ancient contexts and monuments.

At the end of the presentations, technology-based laboratory experiments involving the public have also been scheduled.
